The importance of learning English in the era of globalization
Introduction
Language is an important communication tool in the globalization era of business, economic, social, tourism, technology and so on. English is an international language that is very important for the smooth interaction between various countries. According to Walija (1996: 4), Language is the most complete and effective communication to convey ideas, messages, intentions, feelings and opinions to others.
Language has become the main tool in channeling the values and moral beliefs, including in art and religion. language is related to the culture and mindset of society. So that language can be connected with everyone's mindset through their own verbal. As a global or universal language, English not only allows us to communicate and interact with everyone around the world, but also can change our lives for the better. Meanwhile According to Brumfit "English is an international language which is the most extensive international communication media".
In this globalization era the need for English is obviously very important. The era of globalization is pushing us to adapt to the generally accepted order of life. The importance of learning English should not be ignored, without English we can still live, but this life has developed rapidly and requires us as parties in the circle of globalization to participate in an increasingly advanced life order.
This essay discusses first, what makes English important in the era of globalization. Then, the benefits of learning English can be discussed.
